The Compact was the second step and intermediate variant in the rollout of the Str8 compass model. Initially considered unnecessary by some, it has in a very short time become almost as popular as the Original. The advantage of closer contact with the map – and especially the pointing tip – without losing the advantage of the flat map surface under the plate, has made this size an eye-opener. It has now become the obvious choice for most people who want something between the larger Original and the smaller Exsakt.
