More and more people are choosing mountain marathons – Bagheera Mountain Marathon S\u00e4len breaks participation record<\/p>\n
The Bagheera Mountain Marathon S\u00e4len, which takes place on August 26-27, is this year’s trail adventure in Lindvallen. The race is growing more and more, the fourth edition breaks a huge participation record and around 1,300 participants will challenge themselves in 42 km, 21 km or in the Children’s Mountain Marathon.<\/p>\n
\u2013 Running on the bare mountain is really something special, the nature along the course is fantastic, says the race director Jakob L\u00f6\u00f6f.<\/p>\n
Running in the mountains and over long distances is trendy, which the organizing association Malungs OK Skogsm\u00e5rdarna can confirm through steadily increasing registration numbers.<\/p>\n
\u2013 There is a strong interest in longer, tougher and different running adventures today and the Bagheera Mountain Marathon S\u00e4len offers a concept that suits many, says Jakob L\u00f6\u00f6f.<\/p>\n
This year’s edition is expected to be not only a big trail running party for exercisers, but also a battle among runners in the very elite of Swedish trail running. The Swedish European Orienteering Championship runner, Ola Martner from Ryssbergets IK, will start in the men’s 21 km class and is probably the most well-known runner in the starting field. In the women’s 21 km, strong runner Frida Andersson from Falkenbergs OK is the main favorite.<\/p>\n
New track layout<\/strong><\/p>\n This year’s mountain marathon offers a partially new course. More hilly terrain, more beautiful mountain scenery and a really varied run with everything from finely groomed mountain trails and gravel roads to rocky, bumpy passages where running technique is really put to the test. A slightly rainy summer has also made parts of the track slightly softer and wetter.<\/p>\n \u2013 It will be a challenge for all participants, but also something to long for and look forward to, smiles L\u00f6\u00f6f.<\/p>\n Sprint race \u2013 S\u00e4len 1K<\/p>\n On Friday evening, the S\u00e4len 1K sprint competition will be decided, where the fastest sprinter in the S\u00e4lenfj\u00e4llen mountains will be crowned. Interest is growing here too and the big favorite in the men’s class is IFK Mora’s ultra running ace Roman Ryapolov.
